That's right, the Weyrleader position at Igen Weyr is open, and the BOD, in their infinite wisdom (I'm not biased or anything, am I?) has decided to throw the position open to the weyr. Anyway, this at first will be open only to existing members, but if we don't get the response we're hoping for, we'll throw it open to non-members.

Interested? I thought so. It won't be an easy thing, and we aren't going to hand it to the first person who tries, or our favorite person. We're going to level the playing field a bit. We want someone as Weyrleader who knows the position, and is willing to do its duties. This is to be more than a pretty title...we plan on putting you to work. *mwahaha*

1. Submit your persona sheet. This is the first part of your application. You don't have a good sheet, we won't look any farther. You can submit either an existing bronzerider, or write a new one. We aren't looking at how long you've been with us, either, so if you've got a great sheet, and you've only been here a month, you have your foot in the door. It has to be good. We're talking detail, and depth. Make us like - or hate - your character. He doesn't have to be nice, either. All our Weyrleaders are nice. It might be fun to have a Weyrleader/Weyrwoman pair that DIDN'T get along well. Write a good, lengthy, well-thought out character.

2. Essay. Yup. Essay. Why? This is to weed out those who really aren't serious about this position. We want you to tell us what a Weyrleader is, what he does, and why YOU should have the position. Don't even think about giving us the "because I think it would be fun to roleplay" excuse. We won't accept that. Tell us what the Weyrleader's duties are, what he does all day. Tell us why we should give you the position.

That's it. We won't be setting a deadline on this, because we don't want to rush. We'll wait till Cymyrenth's next rising if we have to. We want someone who not only wants the position, but is willing to work for it.

If you still think you want to do this, then go for it. Submit your essay and persona sheet together, in one email, in plain text format ONLY. No fancy Word documents, please. Use notepad on your computer. Email your submission to the Board of Directors at board@cibryen.com. Only one submission per person, please, and don't email it to us until you are absolutely sure that THIS is your final draft. Its not that we are trying to be mean, we're just trying to avoid wishy-washy-ness.
