Winglists of Wave Crest Weyr

These are the fighting wings of Wavecrest Weyr.  They will be filled as new characters are created, and no new wings will be established until all of these wings are filled first. Wavecrest is at full fighting strength, having been unaffected by the plague, and thus will have 30 dragons per wing.  According to the Dragonlover's Guide to Pern ®:

"A Wing is the smallest cohesive groups of riders. Each wing is led by a Wingleader, who is aided by Wingseconds.  Most often the Wingleader is a bronze rider, the Wingseconds riding browns, but circumstances may put any rider in any position.  In good times a Wing contains 30 dragons.  Twelve is the smallest working Wing a Weyrleader will normally permit to fly."

Blues and greens are much smaller than the other dragons, and because of this, they do not have the stamina to fly an entire Fall. We have separated the greens and blues into waves.  The first wave goes out with the wing at first fall, and as riders tire and must return to the weyr, the second wave replaces them as needed.  The Queen's Wing is a special case, and in Wavecrest is always flown understrength.  9 riders make up the wing, which includes all goldriders, and the rest of the slots are filled by pregnant riders, injured dragons still able to fight, and riders on punishment.  This wing is responsible for helping to catch injured dragons, flaming thread that is missed by the higher altitude wings, and helping to coordinate the other wings, via gold relay.
