PERSONA DESCRIPTION

Height: 5'8"
Build: Slim and toned, your average dragonrider's build.
Weight: 122 Lbs.
Hair color/style: deep mahogany, mid-back and curly.
Eye color/shape: deep, multi-hued blue, like the sea she loves so much, wide, thick-lashed.
Facial features: slim face, pert nose, full lips, wide eyes, slim brows, a very charming and mischevious visage.

Style of dress: Skirts. Lots of skirts. All sorts of skirts. Any color, but she adores jewel-tones. As a journeywoman in the fishercraft, she didn't get to wear skirts often, as she was always out on the huge three-master fishing ships unique to Tillek hold, so she makes up for it now. Being the weather is so warm, a tanktop and a sarong will often do her. She has a vast collection of bodices. Soft breeches, leathers when appropriate. She enjoys high-quality clothing, but also enjoys making her own now and then.

Habits: Niamh will often, in indecision or annoyance, jut her jaw and click her front teeth together. She tends to sing to herself often as a result of her time spent on the fishing boats at Tillek, where everyone would sing as they worked. She adores the fishing songs she grew up singing. She has a lovely voice. When holding a stylus, she'll tap it constantly, and she'll raise a brow at anything and evetything.

Hobbies: Being she grew up in Tillek, fishing is a natural passtime for her, along with her on again-off again penchant for sketching. She can cook very well, but rarely gets the chance since Impressing. She also will weave fishing nets in her spare time. She enjoys teaching young children how to fish off the shore, and wades into the warm ocean with them to try and catch minnows.

Pets: Niamh impressed a dark blue, almost navy firelizard, whom she named Tide. She also is mistress to a tiny little moss-green firelizard named Tinga, who is Tide's mate. In her weyr, she has a huge glass aquarium given to her as a gift when she became a journeywoman, which houses a multitude of tropical fish caught off the shore of the Weyr. Niamh loves the ocean and fish, and took pains to decorate the tank accordingly to the specimins natural habitat. She loves to watch the brightly colored fish.

Personality: Niamh is a very work-oriented woman. She is of the mindset that everyone has something to contribute to getting things done efficiantly, and is quite adept at pointing out talents in people that they may have not recognized before. This stems from her need to see work finished quickly and properly. She has often been tasked with finding suitable work for people who seek a home in the Weyr, where every craft is encouraged. If Niamh is impressed with a person's work ethic -she has a vast one herself- she will let it be known. Likewise, if she isn't happy with the way things are being done, be sure she'll be the first to speak up. She is highly organized, and has an eye for details in everything. She has impeccably tidy handwriting, and her weyr is the same-- uncannily clean. This is all not to say that she's obsessive-compulsive, she just has a vast amount of energy, and finds an outlet for that in keeping everything in the Weyr running as smoothly as possible. Niamh is a fair, just woman, and thusly is often asked to mediate disputes, which she does gladly. Conflict, to Niamh, is a sign that something isn't running properly, and she'll do everything in her power to get things back on track. She loves coming up with creative ways to keep everyone happy while getting their work done. Niamh is a highly intelligant woman, and shrewd in business dealings. In meetings, she will remain silent, taking in everything being said and filing it in her mind. Once she's assured herself that everything is running smoothly, she'll loosen up. Niamh is always the smiling one, encouraging people to do the best they can do. She's an incurable optimist, and is quick to comfort or support anyone who might need it. "Sunny" would be the best word to describe her. In a side note, she adores children, and holds her family in very high esteem. It pained her to send her child to her mother to be raised, but a goldrider simply can't spend the time to raise children. She knows they will be well raised with her mother, and visits them as often as possible.

Background/history: Niamh had a very happy childhood. She was the firstborn to a captain and the Portmaster at Tillek Hold, who went on to be rather prolific in their bearing of daughters, only once bearing a son. She spent the greater part of her childhood near or in the sea, idolizing her mother for being a captain of a ship. When she was eight, she was allowed to accompany her father on a fishing trip. A bad squall hit the good ship "Pelican" off the west coast of Southern Boll. Niamh was pitched overboard into the churning sea, and was only saved by the bravery of her cousin, Tydd, who secured a rope about his waist and jumped in after her. He was promoted to journeyman status the moment he hauled Niamh back onto the deck of the ship. Oddly, this incident never marred Niamh's enthusiasm for the sea. As she grew older, she would often sit by the shore and muse, staring off across the waters. When Niamh was thirteen, her father suggested she apprentice to the seacraft. Niamh agreed fervently, to her mother and father's pride. As her life previous had been taking care of the hold's children, hauling in nets of fish and gutting, she threw herself into her work with a passion not seen often by women in the fishercraft. In fact, Niamh is one of the very few women who ever apprenticed to the very much male craft. She earned the respect of her masters and the other apprentices, and was quickly crewed aboard the three-masted fishing boat, the "Skye Swift", where she honed her skills hauling the lines. She worked just as hard as everyone else, as hardy and strong as Tillek women are notorious to be.

Somewhere along the six years she spent going out to sea, she became a rugged beauty, which was noticed by all she met. It wasn't lost on her best friend Logan, a fellow apprentice aboard the "Skye Swift". They'd met when she was fourteen and first crewed to the three-master, and he was seventeen, apprenticed three years aboard the same ship. They grew to be fast friends, sharing everything. When he was nineteen, and Niamh sixteen, Logan was Searched, and impressed bronze Caleth at High Reaches and became L'gan. He came to visit her as often as he could, and she relished his visits. At eighteen, Niamh walked the tables and was confirmed to journeywoman status in the Seacraft. Her parents were just as proud as they could be, and held a feast for her at the Lord Holder's invitation. It was at that very celebration that Niamh was Searched for the clutch at High Reaches Weyr. A gold egg hardened on the sands.

Niamh pined for the sea while she was a Candidate at the Weyr, causing L'gan, whom she'd been reunited with, to worry for her health. Niamh became very quiet, rarely even opening up to L'gan, she missed her home on the blue sea. The stone of the Weyr became something of a prison to her. Finally, the day of the Hatching came, and Niamh snapped out of her depression when Oisinth called to her. Niamh was so dazed, she thought Oisinth must have been and exceptionally light green, but to her -and everyone else's- delight, she had Impressed a gold hatchling. It did nothing to quell her longing for the sea, however, though she was considerably more concerned with Oisinth than getting to the seaside.

Weyrling training was Niamh and Oisinth, and shortly after Niamh's twenty-first birthingday passed, the three-Turn-old Oisinth rose to mate for the first time. It had been a long time in coming...other golds her age had risen by the time they were two. The winner of the flight was V'rel, an older bronzerider who Niamh endeavoured to distance herself from after the flight. A child resulted from the flight, a baby girl named Niava. Niamh was plagued with indecison over whom to foster her daughter to, until her mother finally interevened and told Niamh that if it was her wish, she would take Niava to Tillek and raise her. Niale's ship is captained by her second mate when she is busy with the matters of children. She has assurred her daughter that Niava is just as fond of the sea as Niamh was at her age. Niamh has high hopes that her daughter will become an apprentice to the seacraft when she is old enough, like Niava's mother, grandmother, and two of her aunts. Niale had just birthed Niahm's fifth sister, and was able to nurse her granddaughter. Niamh was content that her first daughter was in the best care possible.

When Oisinth rose again, on schedule this time, V'rel's bronze caught her again, and again, Niamh was left with child. She lost the child Between, though, to a small amount of relief. It was then that Niamh was informed she would be trasferring to Wavecrest Weyr. Niamh was overjoyed at the thought of living at the cliffside Weyr, being near to her beloved sea. She had L'gan to thank for that. He had remain concerned that Niamh would start pining for the sea again, and had gone to the Weyrleader's, playing the overcrowding card -the Weyr was boasting six queen at the time- to get them to agree to let Oisinth and Niamh transfer to the waterside Weyr in the South. He had asked to be transferred with her, but being a wingleader, they would have none of it. When he told Niamh he wouldn't be going with her, she was saddened, but promised to visit him often, and he likewise would visit her, too.

So, Niamh and Oisinth happily packed up and left for Wavecrest. When they arrived, Niamh was almost in tears at the breathtaking of the location. She was shown her weyr, and it was a heartbreakingly beautiful view out over the sea, complete with waves crashing on the cliffside below, the spray that showered her face as she stepped out onto her ledge to the beach father down the coast. She laughed delightedly at the dragons darting in and out of the waves and weyrs. She knew she would be right at home here. She wasted no time making her weyr lavishly comfortable for herself and Oisinth, and settled right in. Her parents had given her a large, clear-glass aquarium which Niamh quickly populated with many of the different tropical fish she found residing in a reef down the coast. She is getting along smashingly with most people at the Weyr, and is even attempting to cultivate a friendship with Vaeniel, depsite the Weyrwoman's aloof personality.

Niamh's position as Weyrwoman Second was confirmed when Oisinth rose unexpectedly and was caught by L'gan's Caleth while they were visiting. After a brief period of unsurety, they riders quickly realized that that was what they'd wanted, and Niamh asked L'gan to stay at Wavecrest. He accepted, and took up the position of Weyrleader Second. Niamh is pregnant with his child, but neither are aware yet.

DRAGON INFO

Name: Oisinth (pronounced WAY-sinth)
Color: Gold
Sire/Dam: Isynith/Elodath
Wing:Queen's Wing
Description: Almost white-gold, Oisinth's hide is laced with spashes of a slightly darker antique gold, her muzzle, tail and underbelly definately a shade or two darker. She's quite petite, spanning only 31 feet nose to tail, about the size of a small brown. Her wings are lovely, a sheer gold shading somewhere between the ligthest and darkest colors gracing her form. She has a small scar on the underside of her left wing where a bronze nicked her in flight. It healed well, thanks to outstanding healers, but the mark is still vaguely visible. Oisinth is in trim, fighting form, the picture of a healthy young queen.

Personality: On a bad day, Oisinth's sunny personality surpasses her rider's best mood. Balancing that, though, she becomes deeply proddy before she rises, to the point where Niamh may ask her to remain in their weyr. Sympathetic and charming, Oisinth is the first to offer suggestions to help out in any situation, and she dislikes conflict as much as her rider, often she will interefere to allevitate a tense situation. Oisinth adores flits, often fawning over Tinga and Tide. She is deeply compassionate, and keenly feels every loss the Weyr suffers, and likewise, she basks in every success the Weyr sees. She is a fine leader, well-liked by the Weyr in general, and riders alike. She puts forth a valiant effort in Threadfall, encouraging tired or dismalled riders towards the end of Fall. She will fly the first half of Falls, returning to the Weyr to help the injured, and heading back out to fight the last leg of the Fall. Her slender, petite form aides her in being one of the fastest, manuverable dragons in the Weyr. Oisinth, while often a bit high-strung, is easily tempered by her mate, Caleth, and she often demures to the older bronze.
