Physical Description:
Naeya is tall for her age, and skinny, as she is a very active girl. Genetics are against her, however, and if she ever becomes less active, she will find it very easy to put on weight, and not so easy to lose it. Naturally she has very pale skin, and at the beginning of the summer seasons, she always gets a bad sunburn before it fades to a tan. She keeps her thick, dark brown hair tied up out of her round face. Her eyes are slightly almond shaped, and gray, matching her father's color exactly. Her legs are longer than the ratio should be of legs to torso, but she might catch up with them when she grows a little bit more. She's a cute child, but not stunning; her features are fairly average. Her facial features look remarkably like her father; separately no one would notice, but if they are ever next to each other, the family resemblance is overwhelming.
Style of dress:
Anything but a skirt. Her mother cannot force Naeya into a skirt for anything. Even if she were allowed to go to the Hatchings, which she was for her brother A'than's Impression, she still refuses to wear skirts.
Habits/Hobbies:
Naeya loves the outdoors. She is always dragging her brother Bain out against his will to swim, or run, or play any sort of outdoor games she can think of. She really wants to learn to ride runners, but her mother tells her not to bother the beastcrafters, and so far she has obeyed. However, she is beginning to realise that Maera's word is not the be all and end all and temptation may soon get the better of her.

Personality:
Naeya is a precocious tomboy. She's very, very smart, but instead of turning her intelligence to studies, she mostly just wants to play outdoors and spend most of her time in physical activity. She does like watching her mother work, but beyond that she doesn't find lessons all that exciting or challenging. A major problem with her intelligence is that she doesn't have much common sense, or any sort of apparent connection between her brain and her mouth; she says whatever she is thinking, which can be thoroughly embarrassing to the adults around her at the time. She doesn't ever think before she speaks, and lands herself in hot water very often because of it. She's an ambitious girl; she dreams of doing big things. Of course, what it is that she dreams of doing changes every ten seconds, but for those ten seconds, she is intensely set on doing whatever it is that she has decided. Dragon rider, Master Harper, wild holdless will'o'the wisp. She'll have her heart set on any one of them or a dozen other things depending on which day you encounter her.
Background/history:
Naeya was born as the result of a flight. Her father, B'rys, was mourning the death of his weyrmate's dragon, and her subsequent departure from the weyr, and willingly sought solace in Maera's arms when she was looking to comfort the losers of the flight. Maera never told him she was pregnant, and as a result, he doesn't know about Naeya. She is one of the middle children in a very large family, and from the time she was able to walk and talk, has been responsible for herself, to a certain degree. Luckily, she is not one of those children who has ever been particularly demanding, and the situation suits her just fine.
Naeya was very fussy as an infant. She had bad colic, and drove her mother crazy with her screaming. Later on, she would make up for it by being a good toddler, not really causing too much trouble, unlike many of her siblings. The only things she did that drove her mother insane was the tendency to wander off, or hide in various locations to see when anyone would notice or find her. Her mother jokes that Naeya was trying to give her a heart attack nearly every day as a young child.
Naeya used to be nearly as introverted as her brother, Bain, until she started to participate in the races and sporting events that are popular with kids her age. She found herself to be surprisingly good at them, which did a tremendous amount to bolster her confidence; now she's almost cocky about her abilities. When she gets too cocky, the other kids usually bust her chops in some fashion or another, which stops her from getting too carried away. She doesn't mean to do it, really, but she can't help feeling elated when she wins at something.
Despite her affinity for sports, she's only ever had one major injury; when she was eight, she broke an arm from a fall. The rock she'd been standing on in the bowl turned out to be unstable, and she landed badly on the arm. It was very hard for the active eight turn old to take it easy for the several months it took for the arm to heal, but she managed by playing "quiet" games with her brother and spending a lot of time hanging around the dining cavern making up stories about the people in there.
Despite her dreaming, Naeya really has no idea what she wants to be when she "grows up." She can't picture herself as a grown-up, so she just enjoys the moment, as most kids her age do. She is however starting to recognise that she needs to find some direction in life. Some of her friends are beginning apprenticeships, either at the Weyr or at some of the nearby holds, and she is beginning to envy them their new responsibilities. Her strong competitive nature is pushing her more and more to find a direction, although as always, it changes almost daily. One minute she wants to be a beastcrafter, breeding the fastest runners on Pern, the next she'll be a vintner, producing wines the likes of which even the fabled Cibryen Hold wine-makers will marvel at. She knows she's going to be absolutely amazing at whatever she does. She's just not sure what that should be.
