Requirements for Ranking Personae

Level One
Level Two
Level Three
Level Four

If you have a persona at Wavecrest Weyr that could be considered "ranking", you will be expected to maintain a minimum monthly posting requirement. All members are required to post at least twice monthly, but if you have ranking characters, you will be expected to do more.

There are four different levels of personae here at Wavecrest. **If your character isn't listed under one of these four, then you don't have any special requirements.** Among the characters that have no requirements are brown, blue, and green wingriders, apprentice crafters, lower caverns workers, drudges, and so on. That means you only have to meet your minimum membership maintenance posts. Two per month, regardless of how many non-rankers you have.

Requirements can only be met by making substantial RP posts. Sorry, redfruits and one-liners don't count. You need to post at least a good two paragraphs, of decent size to meet your requirements. If you make four posts of one paragraph each, we may consider accepting that. Just talk to the BoD, and we'll work it out. We aren't tyrants, we just want you to post! If you can't keep up a rank, let someone who can have a shot at it. Also, in order to meet requirements for a particular character, the posts must be made WITH that character.

If your persona qualifies as several different persona levels, only the highest requirements apply. For example: a bronze Weyrleader counts as a Weyrleader, a Wingleader, and a bronzerider. Only the Weyrleader requirements must be met. Ranking requirements are cumulative, however. If you have four Level One characters, you must meet the requirements for each persona.

Some requirements involve starting threads. What is a thread? A thread is a essentially a grouping of RPs that consitutes a plot. By starting a thread, we mean you must start a roleplay that other people can respond to. Its also appreciated if you maintain that thread by responding when needed, but not necessarily required.

So I have all these requirements? Why should I bother with ranking characters anyway? Because you will be able to direct the happenings of this weyr. By taking on a ranker, you will be included in RPs that affect the whole weyr. Ranking characters have certain privileges (well, level three and up, anyway) that you will enjoy. You will be a known person, a trusted person. Someone who has a high ranking character and starts many RPs is more likely to be voted onto the Board of Directors. Don't have an eye for leadership? Don't take on a ranker. As the owner of a ranking character, you are expected to help lead the weyr. Ranking characters build the framework for the lowly ones to work with. Plus, we have all sorts of exciting rewards. Playing your ranking characteris a perfect way to earn higher rank, gold firelizards, even one of those coveted gold dragons. People who consistently exceed their requirements by a substantial amount will be placed in our "Hall of Fame", a new feature here on the website. A prominent link on the from page will take you to a special page of honor for those who have substantially exceeded their requirements (ALL requirements, not just ranking ones) will be displayed. The top Hall of Fame member each month will also be placed with top billing on the front page of the website itself.

The biggest reward, however, should be that you have EARNED your character. You're not just playing the bare minimum you can to stay in the club. You're going above and beyond your average Joe, and making yourself into someone that people recognize. Think you can handle that? Well then, let's go over each individual level of character:

Level Four

These are the ranking personae with the least amount of requirements. They are a special group, because they include weyrlings and candidates, which technically aren't rankers, but we felt needed special rules because of the allure of Hatchings. Too many people make candidate for the thrill of Hatching, then never play them again. Its a proven fact that candidates that are played as candidates tend to stick around longer than those who appear for the hatching and are never roleplayed. Because of this, in order to Impress (this will start after Calystath/Syth's first Hatching) a candidate MUST be played.

Candidates who are made and never played will NOT Impress, period. And even if you do make your minimum requirement, that doesn't guarantee you'll Impress. Our clutches will be smaller, and fewer people will Impress. The more you post, the more likely you are to Impress. We want it to be special when you Impress at Wavecrest Weyr. We want people to say "Wow, that's awesome!" when you tell people you have a Weyrling at Wavecrest Weyr. The more you post, the more likely you are to Impress. Weyrlings also fall under Level Four. People too often jump in for the thrill of Hatching, then don't want to fool with the sometimes monotony of classes. Every weyrling is expected to respond to at least two classes a month, and if they don't you won't graduate with your class. If you continue to not respond, you'll lose the dragon. It seems harsh, but if you want Weyrling Heaven, there's a whole club devoted to Hatchings and Weyrlings.

NOTE: Gold and bronze weyrlings are Level Three characters, and have posting requirements in addition to the minimum two-post weyrling requirement. They must have at least three posts, two of which must be a response to classes.

Requirements: 2 IC posts per month

Weyrlings - Must respond to at least two classes per month. Privileges: Dude. The Dragon. Duh.

Candidates - Must RP twice each month to be considered for Impression, although this doesn't guarantee impression. The more you post, the better your chances for Impression Privileges: Being allowed to Stand for Impression.

Journeyman Crafters - Must start at least one craft-related RP per month. Privileges: Privileges? WHAT privileges? Oh yeah...no chores.

These characters are wingleaders and weyrlingmaster assistants. These characters provide very important supporting roles to the running of the weyr, and need to maintain their positions.
